Site News

I’m at the stage where I have to say that, barring a miracle, my erotica business in its current form is not sustainable, and I’m going to have to rethink it in the New Year.

The hard numbers are these: I need my site to gross an average of $150 USD a day to be okay. I need it to gross $200 USD a day to be comfortable. (Those are the numbers before paying royalties to partnership authors.)

December is normally one of my best months of the year. This December, I’m only grossing $90 a day.

It’s hard to say why that is. The start of the continuing downturn in sales coincided with tariffs in the US, which is where the majority of my customers come from, so I think economic factors are part of it. My total site views and visits aren’t down dramatically – just sales.

In any case, while I do have some financial safety net, I can’t pay my bills with what I’m currently making, so something needs to change. That may be how I sell my erotica – maybe the total free access model has run its course – or it may be that I need to scale back the time I spend on erotica and get a day job again.

They’re not fun decisions. I can afford to postpone them until after the holidays.

(Be assured that whatever happens, it’s not going to result in this site shutting down or any impact on the shopfront or previously purchased books.)

Commissions open

Related to the above – I’m willing to take commissions. Commission prices start at $200 USD, depending on what you want and how much I want to write it, with the possibility of some discount for repeat/ongoing customers.

What I’m most interested in doing is producing more chapters of serial stories you’re already enjoying, but faster so you can get more of your favourite storyline right now. What I’m not interested in doing is writing anything that’s not my kinks, anything that’s darker than what I already write, or anything about real people or fandoms I’m not a part of.

Personal News 

I continued to struggle with health, or rather the time and money costs of attending appointments and buying medicine and supplies. Currently I’m being recommended to use a CPAP, which is going to cost me about $2000 AUD to buy if I go with that. I haven’t been able to sleep through the night using the trial one yet though so we’ll see.

On the other hand, I’ve been having a period of unusual productivity which has enabled me to stay well ahead on my writing queue (as you’ll see below). I’m not expecting this to be a “new normal” but I’m taking advantage of it while it’s here.

The site set new records for sales in December and early January, which is nice. However sales have gone comatose in the last week-and-a-bit, which is frustrating (because, as above, I have frustrating new unexpected costs in my life).

Quick notes on a few stories:

• Emma’s Division is a reblog.. It *has* been on the site before, but the reblog program has by this point brought almost all the stories that predate this site across to this platform. (It took more than five years!) So, going forward, reblogs will often be stories that have been published on AllTheseRoadworks.com before. It gives me a chance to revisit these stories and, on occasion, edit or improve them in the process.
• Allison’s Education is already complete and available as an e-book in store, but it will still be several months before free readers get their hands on the final chapters. (Click here to view the e-book in store.)
• Riley’s World is a member-requested follow-up to “Riley’s Documentation”, exploring vignette stories from that world.
• Peyton vs Porn is a shortish hypno serial about an anti-porn crusader who’s hypnotised into becoming a porn-addicted slut. I’m currently expecting it to be finished within six chapters total, and thereafter to headline a book titled “Peyton vs Porn and Other Stories of Hypnotic Conquest”.
• The Stepford Pattern is a new hypno story arising from a member request. The male protagonist is a basically good person who gets the benefit of cruel hypno performed on women by another person. No idea how long this one will be.

There’s also a few fanfic stories in this batch. That doesn’t represent any ongoing shift to more fanfic – it’s just the wash-up from producing the member-exclusive book Worlds of Lust before Xmas. (Click here for details on that book.)

Personal News 

My ability to write ebbs and flows, as dictated by physical health and surrounding stress, but I’m delighted to have had three weeks or so of extremely productive writing headspace recently, which allowed me to get well ahead on my writing.

Site News

In case you missed it, I addressed the results of the reader survey in three posts:

The main changes I’m making come out of those survey results are:

• New stories hitting early access will have content warnings where they feature piss, incest, impregnation, hucow, or are particularly extreme. Those content warnings will also appear on this site and BDSMLR when the stories reach those platforms. (But I’m not going back to add these to old stories until they’re republished.)
• All new ATR books will feature at least a few pages of exclusive bonus content in the back, and new ATR books will not feature any repeated content unless it’s particularly essential to that particular book.
• To the extent I’m able to, given my workload, I’ll focus more on ongoing serial stories and a little less on one-shots. In particular, once I bring the last of the old Tumblr microfiction stories across to the new site (which should be in the next few months), I won’t produce any new stories shorter than 700 words.
• More bundles – I’ve already released Premium Bundle #1, and Premium Bundle #2 will follow in January.

Generally speaking, November sales were very good (after a disappointing year overall) and December has been good but not amazing.

Personal News 

Many months on from the move, and the new house is starting to look house-like, with significantly less unpacked boxes. Health has been the same as ever (fine, with blood pressure managed, but low on energy).

There are elections coming up where I am so I’ve been spending some time actively volunteering for campaigns in line with the positions and values I regularly express on this site in my non-fiction writings. (Respect, consent, women’s rights, and freedom of sexuality and sexual expression.)

That’s left me with a little less free time than usual but nevertheless I’ve been unusually productive on the writing side – you’ve been seeing more serial chapters per week than has been the case in the past, and I’m more reliably “ahead” in my writing.

Personal News 

June was, honestly, a pretty terrible month for sales. It’s the first time since I started the site that I’ve seen profits go backwards compared to the same month last year, and frankly if every month were like June 2024 I’d have to rethink doing this as a full-time job.

July has been much better – thank you to everyone who’s made purchases, both here on this site, and on Smashwords. I’m paying a mortgage now, AND it looks like my monthly medication costs are going up (these are the meds that treat the condition that gave me the stroke), so it really helps to see those sales coming in – and particularly the bigger sales, whether they’re people buying multiple bundles, or renewing a membership for multiple months.

For those who buy from me on Smashwords, the final migration to Draft2Digital is currently happening over there. I don’t *think* this will affect the customer experience. Personal News 

Thank you to all readers and customers for your continued support over the last few months! We’re still unpacking stuff in the new house, but it’s cozy and everything works.

Just to make things more complicated, I caught COVID in late April and spent the first couple of weeks of May coughing and sniffling while quarantined with it. However, I’m multiple-vaxxed and it really wasn’t much tougher than the usual winter cold I tend to catch around this time of year. No sign of any lasting symptoms afterwards.

I don’t want to give the impression that life is an endless procession of challenges. I continue to have support from and kink play with the wonderful women in my life. The new house is really nice, and I’ve also managed to get in a lot of videogaming and roleplaying. (The current videogames are Genshin Impact and Rune Factory 4 Special, and in roleplaying I’ve recently dived into the Pathfinder 2E Remaster.)

The “Tiffany” stories resulted from a member request for a “daddy’s girl” story. They’re not presented as numbered chapters, but the intended reading order is as follows:

The new story “Farmer John’s Natural Dairy” in the upcoming list came from a member request for a hucow breeding story. This is intended to be another short-run story of between 3 and 6 chapters, which will likely headline an anthology book once it’s done with some thematically-related one-shots in the back half of the book.
