Thanks for enjoying the adventures of Cate Star, Crypt Runner.
Just a few words on this story, which features a character who is completely legally distinct from any other notable sexy female archaeologists of fiction, because, you see, Cate Star has *red* hair, which those other characters do not.
Generally when I write erotica there is absolutely no need to include such mundane things as “facts” or “history”, and no reason to include any references to non-English languages.
However, in writing the globetrotting adventures of Cate Star, I have made the possibly unwise decision to have her travel to actual places that actually exist.
I regretted this almost as soon as I did it, but here we are, and Part 2, for example, features both real-life Mexico City, and references to the Mayan city of Calakmul.
Mexico City really has used marines for airport security since June 2023, although I don’t make any suggestion that the real men and women of the Mexican armed forces would behave as the ones in this story do. The men in my stories are almost always assholes, regardless of race, nationality or profession.
Likewise, Calakmul is a real place, and many of the facts I ascribe to it are loosely based on our real understanding of its history. “Scroll Serpent” and “Lady Scroll-in-Hand” are our names for real people who probably ruled Calakmul in the early 7th Century.
The Cult of Zuca-Kaan, however, are wholly fictional, as is their “lost idol”, and any way they are implied to interact with Mayan history can be assumed to be completely imaginary.
Please excuse my awkward forays into the use of some real Spanish, and my attempt at authentic Mayan pronunciation. I am willing to be corrected on both topics, although neither are terribly important to the story.
And finally, if anything I write is actually culturally or racially offensive, please (a) take it as entirely unintentional, and (b) get in contact with me and let me know, so I can correct it and refrain from doing it again. You can contact me at all.these.roadworks@gmail.com.
This is erotica, and a fairly silly erotica at that, and it shouldn’t be taken very seriously by anyone, but if I’m going to be offensive, I aim to only do it intentionally – and I don’t intend that kind of offence here. The material being comparatively trivial is no excuse. Set me straight.
With thanks,

Hi author, I just hope you will never stop writing culturally or racially offensive texts
Just my opinion
Thanks
There’s a difference between taboo / transgressive and offensive. I’m never going to stop writing stuff that’s taboo or transgressive, but if I offend my intended audience, I’m going to apologise and change it, because offence isn’t my intent and I’m a grown-ass adult. 🙂
