Take a look at what’s coming soon to All These Roadworks!

Personal News

I’m going a bit stir crazy due to a minor but extended illness in my household. I’d also be a lot happier if the world weren’t so *gestures vaguely at everything*. But otherwise I’m fine!

Site News

March was a very good month. April has been a lot slower. I don’t know if it’s the US trade situation spooking everyone, or some other factor, but I’m not selling nearly as much as I need to for this month. Support is appreciated!

My burst of productivity over the last couple of months seems to have tapered off as well. I’m keeping up with writing but not producing extra or finding a lot of time for extra projects. That’ll just be part of a cycle, hopefully.

Again, a reminder that I’m now on Bluesky! This is now my primary Twitter-like platform, due to being less objectionable than X and giving me better engagement than Threads. You can find me at alltheseroadworks.bsky.social (link).

Business-Relevant Politics / Economics Discussion

I’m going to do a quick dive into politics, because politics is economics, and economics is relevant to my business. Skip down to “free queue” if you don’t care.

Obviously the big recent news was the US tariffs. Other sites can explain to you what Trump and his crew may be trying to achieve here, why it might work, why it probably won’t, why it’s going to suck for the US and really only benefit the rich even if it does achieve its goals, and why the specific manner in which it has been done is both baffling and catastrophic.

As a retailer of virtual goods based in Australia I’m not directly affected (at a business level) by the tariffs, and the US really has no way of chasing me for them even if they tried. So that’s nice. But I *am* affected by currency exchange rates.

I sell to you in US dollars but I pay my household bills in Australian dollars. That exchange rate has been fluctuating *very* wildly since the tariff announcement. It spiked strongly in favour of the USD immediately after the announcement, but right now it’s gone the other way and the AUD is stronger than it was pre-tariff. The factors behind this are far more complicated and nuanced than just “tariffs good / tariffs bad” (although that’s part of it) and I’m not remotely enough of an economist to fully understand or explain them.

But the difference between the USD buying 1.57 AUD and 1.67 AUD is meaningful to me – $100 difference in every $1,000 exchange. It’s not overwhelming, but given I exchange anywhere from $4K to $6K USD a month, that’s a difference of $400 to $600 of local currency, which is enough to pay (or not pay) a couple of bills. It’s an irony that my local currency strengthening is actually bad for my business and my personal situation.

The Australian sentiment, in politics and the media, is bipartisan bafflement at what appears to us to be an entirely self-inflicted economic wound on the part of the US, combined with a resentment that specifically levelling tariffs against Australia (who the US runs a trade surplus against) is an unjustified betrayal of a long and very close political alliance. We’re not implementing retaliatory tariffs mostly just because tariffs are bad policy for anyone, and we understand that, even if the US doesn’t. The feeling seems to be that ultimately the US’s tariffs are going to hurt the US far more than they’ll hurt us, and in most industries we’re just going to sell less to the US and more to the EU and China, and adapt and survive.

What does all this mean for me? Not much, yet. 1.57 – which is where the exchange rate is now – is pretty close to where it’s been for the last year, so while that brief 1.67 was nice (and I bought the dip as hard as I could, which is to say not very hard), it was bonus money I didn’t have, rather than expected money I lost.

I’m mostly mentioning it as an advisory for the future, because if economic instability continues or gets worse it’s possible I may have to adjust my business to account for it. One option is region-based pricing, which is complex but I’m pretty sure my site software supports it. Another would be to primarily sell in a currency other than USD – but this isn’t really on the table unless the US *completely* collapses, because the overwhelming majority of my customers are from the US.

I’ll discuss it more if the situation worsens. If it doesn’t, that’s great.

Free Queue

Here’s what’s coming soon for free readers! All these stories are coming to the free queues on this site and BDSMLR, hopefully on the dates shown. Paid members can read the stories in Dropbox right now(Click here to view memberships in the store.)

Quick notes on a few stories (largely the same notes as last month):

  • Emma’s Division continues to be a reblog. The reblog program has reached the point where there’s probably going to be other older serials in the reblog queue once Emma’s Division runs its course. You can of course, buy Emma’s Division as a premium e-book and read it all right now (link).
  • Unwilling Models is a short series of three one-offs, each about 2,000 words, produced for the recent re-release of “She’s Got The Look”, and you can buy that book right now if you want to read them immediately (link).
  • The Ticking of the Clock is a four-part hucow/breeding/slut transformation story that was written as new content for the new edition of “The Milk Industry”, and again, you can read the whole story right now by purchasing a copy of that book (link).
  • The Milk Girls is a girl-on-girl office breastfeeding story, arising from a member request. No idea how long this story will go for but at this stage it feels like maybe four or five chapters at most. (The erotica gods laugh at my plans, though.)
  • This period includes the “last” chapter of Aylee the Alchemist-Slave, which was recently released as a book. (Click here to view it in store.) However, as readers will be aware, that book is only “Book 1”. Future chapters of Aylee will be released as “Aylee the Alchemist-Slave Book 2”, and the chapter numbering will begin again at chapter 1.

Writing Queue

In addition to all of the above, here are the serial stories currently in my queue of requests to be written from long-time Premium Members. These don’t count the stories which are written but not yet released, detailed above.

These requests are from people who were paid Premium Members in January and February 2023 and who are still Premium Members today. I haven’t formally reached out for February 2023 stories yet as I’ve still got a fair number for January, but I’ll do that before the end of this month.

Generally speaking I expect to complete stories relating to January before stories relating to February, but I do jump ahead sometimes if I’m in the mood to write a particular story.

  • RELATING TO JANUARY 2023
  • The Cheerleader Conversion, Part 7
  • Farmer John’s Natural Dairy, Part 3
  • The Foster Girl, Part 18
  • The Milk Girls, Part 2

  1. As always, I greatly appreciate the transparency and ethics! I know everything *gestures vaguely at the world* is so overwhelming, and as a woman in the USA it’s extra scary right now, so I really appreciate you and the work you’re doing, keeps me sane, and happy to keep supporting a great source of ethical kink content! Thanks again, and I hope the economics side works out. I’ll keep supporting your content however I can!

  2. “This is now my primary Twitter-like platform, due to being less objectionable than X” Just call it Twitter. It makes Apartheid Clyde mad. Also, he deadnames his daughter, we deadname his website.
