At the time of writing this, all my original posts on Reddit have vanished, and I’m unable to make new ones. This is almost certainly because I’ve tripped the site-level spam filter somehow, which makes my Reddit account basically useless. In fact, if you navigate to www.reddit.com/user/AllTheseRoadworks and you’re not me, the site will tell you that I don’t exist or I’ve been banned – although I’ve had no correspondence suggesting such a ban.
I can actually still log in, see my deleted posts, and comment, but that’s about it.
I’m just posting this here, given I’m unable to explain it directly to my followers on Reddit.
I’m not sure why precisely I’ve tripped the spam filter. I’m a NSFW account, but that should be fine on Reddit, and I’ve been careful to check in with the mods of subreddits personally before submitting posts that include external links. My posts are generally well-received and upvoted and clearly provide value to the subreddits I’m posting to. None, to the best of my knowledge, contain anything that violates Reddit’s policies.
I’ve filed an appeal and hopefully it might get fixed. Not sure if that will reinstate my deleted posts or not, though.
But also I’m not holding my breath. Being an adult creator means getting the short end of every stick, and platform discrimination continues to rise, driven by religious extremists, bad government regulation, and by the platforms themselves.
If it doesn’t get fixed it is probably worth creating a new account on Reddit and starting again, given the number of eyeballs there, so I’ll probably be back one way or the other.
Also, sorry for the low effort banner for this post, I just wanted to get it done quickly. 🙂

That sucks – I hope it gets worked out
I doubt it’s really driven by any of those three things; most of this drive towards puritanism comes from corporate sponsors who don’t want their precious brand associated with [vulnerable subculture]
With respect, no, it is absolutely religious extremism, driving bad laws.
Check out the history of FOSTA/SESTA, NCOSE, the Backpage shutdown and trial, the “Traffickinghub” campaign, the UK Online Safety Bill, the Utah anti-porn bills, the Australian Online Safety Act, and NCOSE specifically launching a campaign to target Reddit.
I’ve been tempted a few times to do a Reality Check piece on all of it, except that it’s too much and too stressful. But XBIZ (the adult news site) covers it all fairly factually and thoroughly, albeit not always with the full journalistic detachment one might want. (That’s not the ONLY place covering it, and there are some fairly good tech and culture reporters covering it for more traditional outlets with more detail, particularly Vice, but XBIZ is the one you can trust to report every last story on this topic.)
