What’s the catch?
There is no catch – the book is free.
But the reason I do book giveaways is to promote my work and increase sales. So if you want to see more giveaways in future, here’s what you can do to help:
- Buy something alongside your free book! If free books boost sales, I’ll offer more free books.
- Let people know about AllTheseRoadworks.com, and about the free book giveaway.
That’s it!
Enjoy your free book!

I would love to buy your ebooks and support your work but don’t want the purchases linked to my name, address, card, or PayPal etc… If you add crypto payments I will buy your stuff and I’m sure there’s many others who feel the same and want to buy but also stay private.
Many people can and do provide fake details when purchasing from me. I get orders all the time from “Man Person” and “Johnathan Fakename”.
If you buy using a credit card I get the billing address attached to that card. If you buy with a Paypal account (or make a purchase whose total price is zero, as in the case of this giveaway) I only get the info you choose to give my site, plus your Paypal email. (This is exactly the same as any other shopfront receives any time you do business online.) And I don’t give a crap about any of that information, except so far as I need to in order to provide customer service.
Unfortunately I can’t and won’t offer a crypto option for a number of reasons. One is that, in theory, you need to be 18 to hold a Paypal account or a credit card under the TOS of those companies, so it gives me assurance I’m not selling to anyone underage (or that, at the very least, they’ve wilfully lied about their age in a contract to do so). Another is simply that there’s no easily-usable crypto gateway compatible with my site software. A last and most important is that I just don’t want to be trading in crypto, for reasons of volatility, regulation, risk management, and ethics.
